Zeng Shen, also known as Zengzi, was a disciple of Confucius and renowned for his filial piety. One day, while cutting firewood in the mountains, his mother was visited by guests at home. Unable to entertain them due to her old age, she bit her finger in distress. At that very moment, Zeng Shen, far away in the mountains, felt a sharp pain in his heart and immediately sensed that his mother needed him. He rushed home and found her in need of assistance.
